The day's agenda (view in PDF) was packed with presentations covering both the directions of digital writing as well as specific solutions implemented in health care organizations, governmental entities and large commercial enterprise.
In the opening session, the users were welcomed by Roy Lively, consultant to the IRS and User Day Honorary Conference Chair.
Barrett Joyner, Sr. VP of Sales and Marketing at Mi-Co, demonstrated the new features of Version 4 of the Mi-Forms System as User Day 04 represented the official rollout of Version 4 Release 4.1 (view presentation in PDF). A highlight of Version 4 is the major enhancements in the Mi-Forms Designer allowing users to rapidly design and implement mobile data capture applications.
Joseph Wagle, Marketing Manger of hp discussed hp's directions in Digital Writing including their new initiative in Forms Automation (view presentation in PDF). The Forms Automation System for HP is a digital pen based solution focused on solving the data capture needs of large scale enterprises. Elodia B. Cole, Research Associate University of North Carolina Department of Radiology then provided highlights of a recent study that focused on the efficiency and effectiveness of different types of mobile data capture processes (view presentation in PDF). This presentation was the initial release of findings from a study conducted for the National Cancer Center and focused on the data with Tablet PCs, Logitech io Pens, Pocket PCs, and a Pocket PC Hybrid (a Pocket PC connected to a Digitizer for handwriting input). Preliminary findings provide significant insight to the benefits of different forms of mobile data capture with the Tablet PC and Digital Pen receiving extremely high marks in speed of data capture, quality of data, and user satisfaction
Debra Harris, Wilson County Home Health Director John Grovenstein, Information Technology Specialist Juan Mesa, Jackson Memorial Hospital Jim Eller of the Cherokee Indian Health Authority discussed the ROI he expects in work he is currently implementing. This application could potentially reach over 300 hospitals and clinics in the nation. The mission of his work is to develop and deploy a practical, highly-effective information system for ambulatory care that offers real value to clinical users, business users, and patients. Dr. Greg Clary, Mi-Co CTO, rounded out a very productive day with a look at the strategic directions that Mi-Co is planning for the next releases of the Mi-Forms System (view presentation in PDF). This development road map highlighted the facts that Mi-Co listens carefully to customer requirements and spends some dedicated time on primary research to Stay on the leading edge of mobile data capture and handwriting recognition technology.
