A strong sense of community involvement and support is a cornerstone of the Mi-Co business philosophy. This philosophy is demonstrated on a continual basis with actions from management and staff, company policies to encourage volunteerism and strong support from the Mi-Co Board of Directors. Mi-Co's values include not only running a successful organization but, in the words of CEO, Greg Clary, "To run the business the right way." This philosophy of conducting business "the right way" includes having a positive impact on the community at large. Mi-Co is proud to support these and other community initiatives by organizations that are working hard to make a positive difference in people's lives.
Communities in Schools of Wake County connects students with community resources and educational opportunities to help them succees in school and life. Mi-Co has supported their efforts by providing resources and sponsoring CIS of Wake County as the User Day Community Connection since 2003. Mi-Co place third place in the Go-Kart races to benefit Hospice of Wake County. We had a great time, didn't get run over, didn't loose our helmets (did we Danielle??), and mostly stayed on the track. Congratulations to Danielle McNeillie, Jack Armstrong, Adam Duggan, and Chris DiPierro - the reigning champs! The Walk for Hope is the annual event for the Foundation for Hope for the research and treatment of mental illness. The mission of the Foundation of Hope is to promote scientific research aimed at discovering the causes and potential cures for mental illness in order to develop a more effective means of treatment. In 2006, the Mi-Co team joined in the fund raising efforts and contributed time, energy and funds to this worthwhile community program....And we got to eat STEAK from the Angus Barn in the process! National Multiple Sclerosis Society The Mi-Co walkers raised over $500.00 to contribute to the fight against MS. The money raised from this year's walk will fund research into the cause, treatment and cure for multiple sclerosis and local programming for people with MS and their families in our community. Barrett Joyner, Sr. VP of Marketing and Strategic Sales, was one of the special "Red Carpet" guests at the Triangle event. Thanks for all you do, Barrett!
Run, Betsy, Run! The Society has five priority programs to help reach its goal of finding cures to eliminate leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma: Research initiatives, financial and emotional support, community education, community service, and professional education.
We were lucky enough to sponsor a family with lots of boys so we got to "research" and try out what we like to do ourselves - video games! We also filled stockings, bought and wrapped clothing and other gifts, and provided gift certificates to a local grocery store. Special thanks goes to all the Mi-Co employees for making Christmas happen for another family in Durham. Your efforts make difference right here in Durham! Thanks are also due to The Volunteer Center of Durham for coordinating the efforts between Durham County Department Social Services, businesses and local families.
