Government agencies and departments face the overwhelming task of managing large amounts of pen-on-paper data captured on traditional paper forms, and many of the tasks require an extensive amount of staff mobility. Mi-Co has the knowledge of mobile data capture using handwriting to assist in the management of paper processes for all sizes of government entities. The Mi-Forms System enables your organization to convert original paper forms into electronic forms, from which the data captured will be sent directly to your backend systems. Mi-Forms reduces the tedious task of keying in handwritten data and the frustration of searching for data kept in piles of paper forms. Mi-Forms will make an instant impact on your agency with cost savings, improved productivity, increased efficiency and better security.

The Mi-Forms System is flexible and can be deployed on your hardware of choice. Mi-Forms on Tablet PC allows you to design a truly paperless mobile operation because all forms are electronically written with digital ink. Tablet PC interactive features will make sure that all necessary information is captured and all business rules are followed. Another benefit of using Mi-Forms on Tablet PC is that you can equip the hardware with an array of peripheral devices, such as barcode scanner, GPS receiver and RFID reader, to gather data outside of the traditional forms requirements.

For example, the USDA uses Mi-Forms to monitor livestock diseases by capturing sample data on Tablet PC and sending that data immediately to the agencys databases for analysis. The implementation also uses a barcode scanner to quickly collect data from inspection sites and ensure correspondence between the sample data and barcode specimen.

Many government agencies are required to retain physical paper records for audit purposes. Mi-Forms for Digital Pen on paper has the dual benefits of being able to provide an electronic audit trail and the security of a paper record simultaneously. Since users are using handwriting to enter data and changing very little of their behavior, minimal retraining is necessary to begin using Mi-Forms.

An agency from the federal government wanted to use Mi-Forms for Digital Pen to inspect equipment operated in public for regulation compliance. Data is collected outdoors, making mobility and visibility a key requirement. An additional requirement is to preserve handwritten paper forms after inspection. In one study, inspection information was recorded quickly via handwriting using the Mi-Forms system so that over 1000 pieces of equipment were inspected in a single day.

(These photos are from a large government inspection job made easier with Mi-Forms. There was a 67.5% savings of labor and resources using Mi-Forms to collect inspection data compared to previous inspections.)
