I recently read an industry white paper regarding best practices when selecting and deploying an enterprise mobility strategy.
I was pleased to see that these best practices were in alignment with what Mi-Corporation has been “preaching” for over 13 years. A few key concepts discussed were buy vs. build, device neutrality, user adoptability, solution customization, and data integration.
The first takeaway revolved around the age old “build vs. buy” debate. Conventional wisdom dictates that, in order to get exactly what one wants, one must build their own solution. This, however, can be cost prohibitive. Adding to the cost is today’s BYOD (bring your own device) trend. Today’s workers expect to have access to a variety of devices, meaning your mobile software platform must run and be tested on an ever-increasing amount of new and updated devices. Mi-Corporation can help with both of these issues – the Mi-Forms mobile data capture solution allows you to design mobile forms that both meet exact needs and are able to run on any device. Better yet, Mi-Corporation features the ability to design a form that can be easily optimized for different devices.
Secondly, the industry paper highlighted adoptability as a key to a successful implementation. The end user will most likely buy in to the use of mobile forms if they have the look, feel and functionality of their paper forms. The forms should also have the benefits of electronic data capture such as digital signature, import of audio, photos and videos, barcode scanning, and GPS integration. Additional features of mobile forms include business logic, calculations, and required fields.
Key to a company’s ROI is the ability to integrate with back-end systems. This enables both pre-population, data look-ups, and integration of collected data into back-end systems. This integration increases worker productivity by allowing the forms to be filled out quicker and more accurately than with a paper- based process, eliminating redundant data entry. Immediate access to mission-critical data is yet another benefit of enterprise mobility software and data integration.
The whitepaper went on to discuss the importance of flexibility, scalability, security, and accessibility. Mi-Corporation understands the importance of these issues and is proud that our mobile data collection solution, Mi-Forms, offers these features as well.
