Checked out the HTC Flyer tablet today.
HTC is hyping the pen of the Flyer in its advertising, so I had to take a look.
I must say I was impressed. The inking was reliable on all areas of the screen, and it was not jagged in the app I tried (the Evernote app). I also liked the app’s feature of multiple pen tips on a wheel on the lower right of the screen. The user can choose from pencil, ink tip, calligraphy tip, highlighter, etc. The ink was nice. The Flyer provided a much better inking experience than last time I saw an N-Trig digitizer in action, on a device that shall remain nameless.
The writing surface didn’t feel that great, but it may have been that the demo unit I saw still had a plastic protective sheet over the screen. The stylus does require a AAAA battery, but those are obtainable. HTC says the battery in the stylus will last a year and a half. At Best Buy, a replacement stylus is $79(!) Ouch. Overall, great start HTC! Now, increase the screen size from 7 inches to at least 10 inches!
