Customizable forms allow faster, more accurate and easier way to do business
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (November 6, 2000) - Providing an efficient way for businesses that use paper forms to capture and wirelessly deliver information, Mi-Co today announced new forms-based technology for its pen-on-paper Mobile Internet solutions.
This technology - which works in conjunction with Mi-Co's products and services -enables users to digitally capture any information that is handwritten on regular paper forms. Using Mi-Co's software, the completed form can then be delivered wirelessly to a handheld device. From there, the document can be stored and immediately used to populate a database or simply be sent anywhere in the world via the Internet and Mi-Co's application service.
The new technology will be available when Mi-Co's offerings become commercially available later this year.
"Our forms-based technology enhances our handwriting capture and delivery solutions that are currently in limited release," said Jim Clary, president and co-founder of Mi-Co. "Imagine your doctor filling out a medical history in front of you and having a digital copy instantly arrive at the medical record office, generate an appointment for you in the X-Ray department, notify your insurance company, and you are handed the paper copy. From virtually anywhere, a person can fill out a form and have that document immediately captured, compressed and ready to deliver from their handheld device to any enterprise database, personal computer, fax machine, or another handheld device."
From the enterprise to small business to individuals, paper forms are still abundant. Mi-Co's wireless, forms-based technology is designed to bring speed, efficiency and precision to document management. A valuable enhancement to any existing paper process, documents are instantly backed up with a digital copy, and the digital version can be immediately sent, saving time and transcribing costs.
"With the national government recognizing the legality of digital signatures, there are an unlimited number of applications for our technology," added Daniel Leslie, vice president of sales for Mi-Co. "Insurance agents, sales and field forces, the government, medical, retail, and countless other businesses all use paper forms. Filling out a form by hand is easy and now we have integrated this efficiency into the digital world."
