RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC (March 21, 2001) -- Mi-Co - developer of handwriting solutions for the Mobile Internet - joins the list of companies presenting at Venture 2001, the 18th annual Research Triangle venture capital conference.
Organized by the North Carolina Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), Venture 2001 showcases 35 of the Southeast's most exciting investment opportunities - from diverse industries such as the Internet, biotechnology, software, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and healthcare. The event will be held at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on April 17 at the Kenan-Flagler Business School and The Carolina Club, and on April 18 at The Friday Center.
Mi-Co executives will present during the afternoon of April 17 with other "early stage" financed companies.
"Venture 2001 gives us a great opportunity to highlight our solutions to a broad investor base," said Jim Clary, Mi-Co's co-founder and CEO. "Last year, more than 400 investors were among about 1200 attendees at that show. We are excited that CED selected us as one of only 17 early stage companies to present to an audience of this magnitude."
Mi-Co's handwriting capture solutions consist of a combination of hardware, software and application services. Mi-Forms - Mi-Co's unique forms-based technology - enables easy and efficient handwritten forms input for a number of vertical industries including medical, banking/insurance, legal, public safety and CRM. Mi-Messages is a service that allows users to efficiently transmit information wirelessly - via standard e-mail applications - from PDAs, SmartPhones and handheld computers to other PDAs, personal computers or faxes. Mi-Co also offers Mi-NotePad, a Bluetooth-enabled product that lets handheld mobile device users digitally capture and store, free-form and form-based handwriting and sketches.
The Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) was founded in 1984 to stimulate the creation and growth of high impact companies in the greater Research Triangle area. CED achieves its mission by providing programs and services in four major areas: education, capital formation, mentoring, and communications. Through these efforts, CED provides entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills that ensure their success and at the same time heightens awareness of the contribution that entrepreneurial companies make to our communities and our economy.
