RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC (June 5, 2001) -- Providing handwritten communication directly from a personal digital assistant (PDA) screen, Mi-Co - developer of handwriting solutions for wireless platforms - today announced its new Stylus-on-screen Mi-Messages software and service.
Available now, Stylus-on-screen Mi-Messages enables PDA users to write messages or take notes directly onto their device's screen, then have these messages delivered via e-mail or fax. The service - downloadable from www.mi-corporation.com - costs $3.95 per month for unlimited email service. Mi-Co is currently giving users a one-month free trial.
"This new service is ideal for traveling executives - giving them the freedom to communicate from anywhere to anywhere," said Jim Clary, Mi-Co's co-founder and CEO. "It provides convenient two-way wireless messaging without requiring plug-ins or any additional hardware or software."
With Stylus-on-screen Mi-Messages, users can harvest up to four separate e-mail accounts on their PDA for reviewing, responding, forwarding or faxing. The service also includes world-class compression technology that provides efficient storage and quick wireless transmission of handwritten messages - which was previously unavailable to wireless PDA users.
Stylus-on-screen Mi-Messages is compatible with a broad range of Palm OS devices including Palm m100, III, IIIc, IIIe, IIIx, IIIxe, V, Vx, VII, VIIx, IBM WorkPad, Handspring Visor, Sony Clie (with explicit Jog-Dial support), TRGPro and Kyocera SmartPhone.
Stylus-on-screen Mi-Messages is just one of the expanding handwriting capture solutions developed by Mi-Co. Other offerings include Mi-Forms, Mi-Co's unique forms-based technology that enables easy and efficient wireless data input for a number of vertical industries including medical, banking/insurance, legal, public safety and CRM. And Mi-NotePad, a product that enables handheld mobile device users to digitally capture and store, free-form and form-based handwriting and sketches. Users can then use Mi-Messages to transmit this information wirelessly - via standard e-mail applications - from PDAs, SmartPhones and handheld computers to other PDAs, personal computers or faxes.
