Mi-Co prepares launch of pen-on-paper solutions for the Mobile Internet
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. (October 26, 2000) - Less than two months after securing an initial $1.5 million, Mi-Co - developer and marketer of pen-on-paper Mobile Internet solutions - today announced that it has secured an additional $2 million in funding.
These funds are being invested by the Canopy Group, a Utah-based venture capital, management and resource corporation devoted to the development of the high-tech industry.
"We've been extremely pleased with the support and attention we have received from the investment community," said Mi-Co President and Co-founder James Clary. "With a limited release of our offerings now out in the market, we've been able to best demonstrate the value of our products and services - and how we can facilitate easy-to-input, personalized communication from mobile Internet devices."
"We are excited to increase our participation in the dynamic wireless Internet marketplace through Mi-Co," said Ralph Yarro, president and CEO of Canopy Group Inc. "Mi-Co's innovative solutions make wireless messaging easy and as simple as writing a note."
Mi-Co's pen-on-paper solutions, which include a combination of hardware, software and application services, are currently in limited release. The first two of these offerings - Mi-NotePad and Mi-Messages - allow users of personal digital assistants (PDAs), handheld computers and SmartPhones to capture, store and communicate pen-on-paper, handwritten information. This information can be transmitted wirelessly - via standard e-mail applications - to other PDAs, personal computers, faxes, or other enterprise-class applications. In addition, Mi-Co's unique forms-based technology also enables easy and efficient wireless data input for a number of vertical industries including medical, banking/insurance, legal, public safety and CRM.
Mi-Co's funding will contribute to the commercial introduction of these offerings, scheduled for later this year.
