(Winston-Salem, NC) - August 28, 2001 - Novant Health's Forsyth Medical Center's OB/GYN anesthesiology group in Winston-Salem, North Carolina will be the first team to begin using Mi-Co's Mi-Forms electronic data entry.
Mi-Forms transforms regular paper into smart digital forms by providing feedback in real time. The handwriting is converted to digital data for easy storage and access. For healthcare, that means patient progress notes, chart information, billing information and more will be available immediately for access throughout the hospital, and that improves efficiency. Mi-Forms was developed by Mi-Co, a company that provides business forms solutions enabling the wireless capture, storage and communication of pen-on-paper data for users of PDAs, handheld computers and Smart Phones
"This new technology has many advantages," said Dr. Gene Simpson, director of Medical Informatics for Forsyth Medical Center. "It will allow us to have patient data immediately available in our hospital information system, and our staff only has to complete the same pen and paper forms that we currently use. That means timely access to important information with less training, fewer errors and minimal effort."
Jim Clary, president of Mi-Co, said, "This innovative technology is a natural fit for hospitals, where people are used to completing paper forms, and the data are shared with many members of a medical team. Mi-Forms software from Mi-Co is useful anywhere a large amount of data is currently being recorded with pen and paper."
Mi-Co is targeting the Mi-Forms solution to enterprise verticals including healthcare, insurance, public safety, field service, CRO and any others that use pen-on-paper forms. Mi-Co and Mi-Forms are registered trademarks of Mi-Co, LLC. For more information visit www.mi-corporation.com.
