Mi-Co, the mobile data capture company, announced today that one of the largest home-visiting programs of the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) is implementing the Mi-Forms Software System to collect and manage the large amount of data captured in the field.
"The quick and secure processing of client data and the accurate and efficient reporting of information are two of the critical challenges we face in our home-visiting programs," said Claritza Abreu, Director of Information Systems Services, "and we feel an assessment of state-of-the-art digital writing technology is warranted. This new technology will give our staff more time to focus on patient care, instead of data entry."
Mi-Co's technology will be piloted and first implanted in the Healthy Baby Healthy Child program (HBHC), which currently employs thirty-two home visitors, eighteen Nurses, thirteen Advocates, and two Social Workers. Providing them more efficient processes in the field has the potential to make the entire program more cost effective. Once this technology is fully proved and tested in the BPHC's infrastructure, Mi-Co's solution will be offered to other Commission programs and departments.

The solution being implemented by BPHC includes the combination of Mi-Forms and Logitech's io Digital Pen. This software and hardware combination was selected for the pilot because the nurses can collect data in client's homes with a process where the hardware is simple, unobtrusive, and highly mobile and the software provides state of the art forms design, handwriting recognition and automatic conversion to text.
