Mi-Co was an invited guest of Intel at the North Carolina Health Informatics & Communications Agency (NCHICA) Health-IT Innovation Awards Dinner on Tuesday, May 7th. It was great to see the incredible innovations being produced by other NC companies and health systems such as Duke Health System, Carolinas Healthcare and more. They will no doubt impact patient engagement in their own healthcare, data analytics to find efficiencies and research, amongst many other things. I also had the chance to speak with Ben Wilson, Director of Healthcare Strategy at Intel, who also gave an interesting keynote presentation at dinner too.
He referenced a market research report that showed that most physicians were using Tablets to lookup drug information, learn about new drugs/research, help with diagnosis etc.
Nowhere on the list is any type of data capture….so that would suggest for all the prevalence of Tablets in healthcare, what Mi-Co evangelizes the use of Tablets for, mobile data capture or mobile-forms entry, is at the very nascent stage of adoption. Mi-Co has made significant impacts for customers like Children’s Hospital Boston, whose audiology department is able to see 800 more patients a year, with the same staff, due to improved productivity stemming from Tablet data capture. We’re sure it’s a matter of time before we see “Data Capture” pop up on this list in the future whether via touch, stylus, voice or all the other methods that Mi-Forms software supports! And a big thank you to Intel for the invite last night….
